Personal Care in Tamarac
The time of day decides whether this goes well, far more than anything written in a care plan about technique.
Most refusals are about timing
A person who will not be washed at eight in the morning will often accept it at eleven without complaint. Agencies rarely ask, because eight is where the rota has a gap.
We ask first, and then try to put the visit there. It is a small thing that removes most of the argument before anybody discusses dignity or technique.
Personal care is the most common first booking, and it shares an hour easily with meals, housekeeping or company.
What is covered
Hands-on help at the hour that suits, in whatever order the plan sets down.
Washing
Shower, bath or basin, whichever is manageable that day.
Getting dressed
Clothes laid out in a sensible order, with fastenings handled rather than fought.
The bathroom
There and back safely, with nothing made of it.
The awkward movements
Bed to chair, chair to frame, and getting back up from the lavatory.
Creams and nails
Applied where the plan says, and anything new telephoned through that day.
When it stops working on its own
- Washing has dropped to once a week
- A spouse is lifting and should not be
- Help offered at the wrong hour is refused
- The shower has gone unused for a month
- Clothes stay on for several days
